Adderbury Library.

Oxfordshire County Council has been busy making Adderbury Library Covid safeCommunity with screens and one-way systems in place. They are now looking forward to welcoming you. In the meantime continue to read and listen to your favourite books for free with the online service. Remember the library needs your continuing support. The Library is grateful for all those members and patrons who have continued to support the Library during the pandemic but FOCAL continues to need your support. Please consider one of the following ways to help ensure that the Library remains a key part of the village. Focal 100 club enrolment forms can be downloaded from the website. Sign up to Amazon Smile, it costs nothing and the Library receives a donation every time you shop with Amazon. Alternatively please consider simply making a one-off donation or becoming a Friend of the Library – it could not be easier, visit and select the option that suits you best.

Adderbury Village Morris Men.

An authentic and lively Cotswold dance side with a great tradition. Prior to lockdown, they were training a new crop of dancers to join the regular dancers at a variety of events throughout the year. As restrictions ease it is hoped that they will be able to resume practices in some form. If you are reasonably fit and active and aged between 5 and 80 you would be welcome at a practice session. Banbury Buddhist Meditation Group.

Meets on Tuesdays at 8 pm. Online through Zoom due to Covid restrictions. 30-40 minutes sitting meditation followed by tea, talks, readings and discussions. For more information and the meeting link email

Banbury Central Bowling Club Sports Club.

Encourages social interaction, keeping active and competitions at both local and national level. Meet new friends and enjoy a new summer sport. Banbury Cross Indoor Bowls Club. Enjoy indoor play at casual/social level up to regional and national standard from the hall at Woodgreen Leisure Centre OX16 0HS. They will operate again from late September 2021 to early April 2022. Banbury Folk Club.

For over 20 years has promoted live folk music, both traditional and contemporary. Meetings take place on Wednesday evenings, acts range from local up-coming artists and well-established musicians to international stars from the Folk world. Doors open at 7.30 pm for 8 pm start, entry fees are between £8 and £15. Events will resume as soon as circumstances allow. Bicester Fossils Walking Football.

Begins playing again at Whiteland Sports Ground, Bicester, on 29th March 2021 on the 3G pitches. All over 50’s are welcome to play, just come along to a session with suitable footwear and a drink. The first session is free, sessions are 2.30 pm Monday, 10.00 am Wednesday, 7.30 pm Friday (mainly for players who work and want to play).

Bloxham Bowls Club.

Following the lifting of Covid restrictions, Bloxham Bowls Club will be holding an open weekend on 29th and 30th May. The event is to encourage newcomers to the game of Bowls and recruit new members to this friendly village club. Members will be on hand to give details of playing and social activities. They are planning a series of Wednesday afternoon social practise sessions, starting in May, open to anyone wishing to try out the game of Bowls, without making any commitment. Members will be on hand to offer guidance and support and offer an opportunity to socialise. The only requirement is that flat-soled shoes must be worn by those taking part. Bowls are provided. The members enjoy a unique way of learning, helping to keep their minds and bodies active. Learn, laugh, live and make the most of life once you’re no longer in full-time work. Broughton Castle Sportive.

Organised by The Rotary Club of Banbury Cherwell and will be held on Sunday 11th July 2021. This event is now well-established in the Cycling Sportive calendar and all profits from the event are donated to local charities. There are 5 fantastic rides designed to suit all levels of ability and stamina from a 5 mile Family Fun ride, through 20, 50, 75 mile rides up to our Cotswold Monster 100 mile ride. All start in the grounds of Broughton Castle and then tour through the Cotswolds countryside and back to Broughton Castle. Credit and Debit card payments only for on the day registrations. Deddington Parish Show.

Taking place at Deddington Parish Church, Church Street on 4th September 2021. Open to the public between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm anybody from ages 5 to 95 can exhibit items to be judged and put on display for the public in the afternoon. On display, you will find cookery, flowers, vegetables, fruit, arts, crafts and photography. Children’s classes are also available. Show programmes are available from The Parish Church Porch, Hempton Church, The Flower Shop, Deddington Library, Adderbury Library and Banbury Library. King’s Sutton Garden Club.

Plant sale on 26th May 2021 at the Butchers Arms Pub from 10.00 am to 12 noon. The Garden Club has been running for many years in the village and they are always pleased to welcome new members. Meetings are normally on the last Wednesday of the month at 7.30 pm in the Millennium Memorial Hall. Lower Heyford Bowls Club.

Memberships are open to anyone in the area, they are an equal opportunities bowls club. They hope to start their new season on 21st April 2021 Covid permitting. Meetings are every Wednesday at 6 pm. They are a really friendly bunch of bowlers who are poised and ready to offer a warm welcome to new members.
