Bittersweet theatre at The Mill

Following a string of hit past shows, the highly respected Paines Plough and Soho Theatre companies return to The Mill Arts Centre this October with a brand new play: SESSIONS (6th October).

“30 just matters, init. Like there’s no doubt you’re a proper adult then. Like 25 to 29 is just training but 30, it’s real.”

Tunde’s 30th birthday is fast approaching. So, he’s just started therapy because he hasn’t been able to get to the gym for weeks and a recent one-night stand ended in tears – his.

Exploring the complexity of depression and therapy, SESSIONS by Ifeyinwa Frederick asks what happens when your last resort doesn’t work. The play follows the life of Tunde, a British-Nigerian, 30-year-old loveable rogue. How has such a seemingly happy young man ended up here, and how does he get out?

Interrogating the challenge of opening up and accepting our own vulnerabilities, SESSIONS is a raw, funny, bittersweet deep-dive into the complexities of masculinity, depression and therapy.

Dance fans will love Sleeping Beauty (25th September), a breath-taking ballet experience for the whole family. Dazzling dancers, Tchaikovsky’s stunning score and gorgeous costumes introduce this glittering classical ballet to a new generation of audiences.
