Get creative

This Autumn, immerse yourself in The Mill Arts Centre’s vibrant array of creative classes and workshops designed to ignite your imagination. Whether you’d like to try a weekly class or a one-off workshop, there’s something for everyone to enjoy – for both children and adults! Read on for highlights, pick up a What’s On Guide or visit our website for full details.

One-Day Workshops

Our engaging one-day workshops are perfect for expanding your creative horizons. Unleash your imagination and create a stunning Tree of Life Macrame Wall Hanging (28th September), learn the art of pencil drawing in our Drawing for Beginners Workshop (8th October), or brighten up your door with a Seasonal Wreath (26th October), learning how to use locally grown flowers and foliage. Plus for those with a sweet tooth, our Autumn Sugar Craft Workshop (19th October) and Festive Gingerbread Decorating Workshop (7th December) will guide you in creating delightful edible art.

Our popular Friday-night Sip & Create workshops return this term, where you and your friends can enjoy a glass of something while getting arty! Embrace the autumnal spirit with Autumn Trees & Painting with Leaves (20th September) or get ready for spooky season with Pumpkin Crafts (25th October). Whether you’re an art enthusiast or a complete beginner, you’re guaranteed a delightful evening led by a professional artist.

Weekly Classes

For a deeper dive into creativity, why not try one of our weekly courses? Garment Sewing for All, starting 16th September, is an eight-week programme designed for all skill levels. You’ll learn various sewing techniques and create custom clothing tailored to your style. Otherwise, you can explore the innovative world of textiles with Textiles for Mixed Abilities, an eleven-week course beginning 19th September where you’ll experiment with fabric and mixed media using techniques like dyeing, painting, and creating textures through slash work and couching. For those looking to unwind and find balance, our drop-in Yoga for Beginners course (11 weeks, starts 20th September) encourages you to develop strength and flexibility at your own pace in a supportive group setting.

Family Activities

There’s plenty for families and their little ones to enjoy this term too. Little Artists (1-5 Years) begins on 19th September with 11 drop-in sessions that let children and carers explore creativity together through themed art activities. Or for older kids, our 8-week drop-in course Youth Arts & Crafts (6-12 Years) starts on 3rd October and encourages creative development with projects like air-dry clay and cartoon drawing. Meanwhile teenagers can enjoy our series of Teen Workshops (13-18 Years) running throughout Autumn, starting with our Fantasy Character Art Workshop (19th September) where you can learn to draw Elven Queens and Dragons with inks, acrylics, and metallic paints.

Visit our website or pick up our What’s On Guide to discover what’s on at your local theatre!
