Lake House Day Centre in Adderbury, near Banbury, is holding a Taster Week for local over 65-year-olds to try out the service for free.
The Day Centre, which is part of Lake House care home, runs on weekdays, 10am – 4pm. Everyone who attends can enjoy a full day of activities and entertainment as well as a hot lunch, refreshments, and light meal to take away.
Regular attendees make friends and enjoy being part of a safe and sociable space. The Day Centre helps to tackle loneliness and offers a chance for family carers to have some free time whilst their loved one is looked after by professional carers.
During the Taster Week (27 – 31 January) newcomers can try out the Day Centre free of charge (usual price £40 per day, sometimes subsidised by the Local Authority), subject to a short care assessment. Featured entertainment at the Day Centre will include games, arts and crafts, skittles, a cookery session, bingo, Chinese New Year celebrations, table tennis, and Valentine’s Day card making. We will also have a live singer performing a range of classic hits on the morning of Friday, 31st January.
Alexandra Grindle, Lake House Manager, said: “We encourage local over 65-year-olds to come and try out our day centre this new year with a complimentary place during our Taster Week at the end of January.
We are really proud of our Day Centre because it is a chance for people to come together and make friends, try new hobbies and make memories.”
