There’s something about seeing hundreds of people dressed in fun, festive gear running, walking and laughing together that officially signals the start of Christmas and, this year, the Katharine House Hospice Santa Fun Run is back!
After a break, we’re delighted to be bringing this much-loved event back to our community on Sunday 6 December 2026 giving local families, friends, businesses and community groups the chance to get together, get active and raise money for their local hospice.
And while the Santa Fun Run might be back, we’ve made a few changes to make this year’s event a little different.
Welcome to Lapland!
This year, we’ll be heading to North Oxfordshire Academy, transforming the running track into our very own Christmas-themed Lapland for the morning.
Rather than following a set route, this year’s Santa Fun Run is all about setting your own challenge.
You’ll have one hour on the 400m track to run, walk or jog as far as you can. You might want to see how many laps you can complete, set yourself a particular distance or simply enjoy moving at your own pace with your family and friends. Whether you complete one lap or 100, every step will count.
The idea is to make the challenge work for you. You don’t need to be a seasoned runner and you don’t need to worry about keeping up with anyone else. You can choose your own goal and make the morning whatever you want it to be.
We’re encouraging participants to get creative and help the hospice reduce its environmental impact, as we only have a small number of Santa suits available. So, dig out a previous Santa suit, your Santa hat, Christmas jumper or your favourite Christmas colours and get ready to make Lapland your own on 6 December. There will be a bit of friendly competition and we’d love to award someone as the ‘Best Dressed’!
Making Christmas count
The Santa Fun Run is about more than getting into the Christmas spirit. Every pound raised will help Katharine House Hospice provide vital, specialist care and support to local adults living with a life-limiting illness, as well as supporting their families and loved ones.
There’s no set fundraising target for this year’s event. Instead, we’re asking everyone taking part to raise as much as they can and help make every step count.
Your fundraising really can make a difference:
- £22.99 could fund an hour of compassionate, expert nursing care for one patient in our Inpatient Unit.
- £88.75 could fund a visit from one of our Community Palliative Care Team nurses, supporting a patient in the comfort of their own home.
- £157 could pay for a specialist doctor to assess and help with a patient’s pain and symptom control.
