A Summer of Laughter at The Mill Arts Centre

Banbury is set for a summer of laughter at The Mill Arts Centre, featuring some of the UK’s finest comedic talents. For the first time ever, we are delighted to present The Mill’s very own Week of Comedy (18th July – 25th July)!

We kick off the week with Mill favourite Gary Delaney & Friends (18th July), who brings his sharp wit and rapid-fire jokes in what promises to be an evening of non-stop laughs. Next up, who said you had to go all the way to the Edinburgh to catch the best comedy? Up-and-comers Sara Barron (22nd July) and Garrett Millerick (23rd July) will be previewing their brand-new stand-up ahead of this year’s Fringe Festival. Then Simon Evans & Friends (25th July) rounds off our week of comedy with an extended headline set of new material alongside brilliant support acts. A familiar face from shows like Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo, Simon’s witty, insightful comedy is always a hit with audiences.

Music enthusiasts will also be delighted this July as we present a whole host of stellar live acts. The month starts with a bang as Purple Zeppelin (6th July) recreate the magic and excitement of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin in an unforgettable two-and-a-half-hour show, while Limehouse Lizzy (19th July) celebrate the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and Thin Lizzy.

“Limehouse Lizzy’s Wayne Ellis, an uncanny ringer for Phil Lynott…” The Guardian

“if you’re sceptical about tribute acts, you won’t be after seeing Limehouse Lizzy” Radio Times

“Gig of the week” The Mirror

For a blast from the past, why not re-live the sounds of the swinging sixties with Britain’s No. 1 tribute show Counterfeit Sixties (27th July)? The fantastic music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks and The Monkees – to name but a few – are all recreated in this stunning night of sixties nostalgia!

There’s plenty of theatre on offer this July too. For the chance to see two of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies as you’ve never seen them before, be sure to catch A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Twelfth Night: A Comedy Shakespeare Double Bill (5th July). In just 40 minutes each, Four Forty Theatre distil these classics into an unforgettable night of laughter with a British seaside twist. Or you can join Banbury’s leading local theatre company, the Banbury Cross Players, as they present their rendition of Home, I’m Darling (11th July – 13th July) – a thought-provoking comedy about one woman’s quest to be the perfect wife.

Or, for something a little different, check out Hundred Watt Club (26th July) as they bring a glittering, sizzling line-up of burlesque showgirls, comedy, circus and cabaret acts to The Mill! Expect the unexpected, but be ready for a beautiful, brash and bawdy night of very grown-up entertainment in this Burlesque Summer Sizzler.
