JS Fine Art Feature

Based in Banbury, JS Fine Art has established itself as a premier auction house, celebrated for its expertise and commitment to the auctioneering of antiques, fine arts & estate sales. Founded by Joe Smith in 1994, the auction house has been a cornerstone of the regional auctioneering landscape for the past three decades.

Joe Smith’s founding of JS Fine Art was almost entirely accidental (which perhaps is a story for another time). However, auctioneering proved to be Joe’s profound passion; valuing and offering for sale every conceivable item, whether it be a kitchen sink or an old master painting, Joe’s enthusiasm on the rostrum always remains keen.

His decision to establish the auction house at its permanent salerooms in Bodicote near Banbury in 2000 proved to be hugely popular and the weekly auctions have become part of many locals’ weekend ‘must do’ activities.

JS Fine Art soon garnered a reputation for its high standards and exceptional service. The auction house’s success can be attributed to Joe’s approach to curating auctions and his dedication to maintaining transparency and professionalism.

JS Fine Art is known for the quality and diversity of its sales, which always feature not only a vast range of antiques and artworks from various periods and styles but also every useful household item and collectable you can think of. Joe has a firm belief that offering everything that has become unneeded by one person will always be wanted by another and this has proved crucial in building a solid reputation.

JS Fine Art

Joe and the team’s forward-thinking approach led to the integration of digital technologies into the auction process. In recent years, they have embraced online auctions and virtual viewings, expanding their reach beyond the local and national markets.

These digital innovations have allowed JS Fine Art to attract global clients and adapt to the changing dynamics of the antique, art and collectables world. The introduction of online bidding and virtual catalogues has been a game-changer. These technological advancements have not only increased the auction house’s visibility but also provided a more inclusive platform for art enthusiasts and collectors around the world to participate.

The impact extends beyond the realm of auctions. Joe Smith has always been committed to supporting local artists and businesses especially encouraging youngsters entering the antiques dealing & collecting community.

Frequently they collaborate with local art institutions, galleries, artists, and schools to promote art education and support emerging artists. They have been involved in numerous charitable initiatives, including fundraising events and auctions for various causes.

Joe and his team’s dedication, combined with their innovative approach and community spirit, has established JS Fine Art as a respected institution in the art & antiques market.

JS Fine Arts’ ability to blend tradition with modernity has ensured that they remain relevant and successful in an ever-evolving industry. Over the past 30 years, the auction house has become integral to the art community, blending tradition with innovation and making a meaningful impact locally.

Items being offered in the forthcoming Antiques, Furniture, Interiors and General Auction Sale can be viewed on the 23rd of October between 9 am and 7 pm at the Cotefield Auction Rooms, Oxford Road, Banbury, OX15 4AQ. For questions about this and any other auctions please call 01295 272 488 or email Enquiries@jsfineart.co.uk.
