Celebrating Success: The Sense of Hearing Named Finalist in Two Cherwell Business Awards

The Sense of Hearing

We’re excited to share some wonderful news! The Sense of Hearing has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2025 Cherwell Business Awards.

Our Banbury-based audiology clinic has been shortlisted for both the New Business Award and the Town Centre Award, recognising not only our early success and growth, but also our positive impact on the local high street and wider Banbury community.

Now in its thirteenth year, the Cherwell Business Awards are a prestigious celebration of entrepreneurial spirit and community contribution across the Cherwell district. With a record number of nominations and many outstanding entries in 2025, we’re honoured to be standing among so many inspiring local businesses.

Founded to provide compassionate, expert hearing care in the heart of Banbury, our clinic was created to offer something different, a truly personalised and independent alternative to high street chains. We believe in more than just hearing tests and hearing aids. We believe in listening first and understanding each person’s concerns, lifestyle, and goals before recommending any solution.

From the beginning, our aim has been to provide professional care without pressure. Whether it’s helping someone hear their grandchild’s laughter again or supporting a client through their first hearing aid fitting, every appointment at The Sense of Hearing is built around trust, empathy, and expertise.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised as a finalist in not just one, but two categories,” said David Peel, founder of The Sense of Hearing. “As a relatively new business, this recognition means a great deal, and we’re so proud to contribute to Banbury’s town centre and local economy.”

We believe good hearing is life-enhancing, and yet for many people, hearing loss creeps in gradually and can be hard to spot. That’s why we offer free hearing health checks and take time to educate our clients about the early signs of hearing loss. In fact, many people wait up to 10 years before seeking help, but early intervention can make all the difference.

At The Sense of Hearing, we use the latest technology, offer a wide range of discreet and comfortable hearing aids, and most importantly, provide ongoing care that helps our clients adjust and thrive. We also offer ear wax removal, tinnitus support, and custom hearing protection. All from our welcoming, modern clinic in the town centre.

We’re also proud to support other local businesses and be part of the town’s regeneration. Every appointment booked, every friendly conversation in the waiting room, and every client who rediscovers the joy of sound is part of the fabric of our community.

Looking ahead, the winners of the Cherwell Business Awards will be announced at the Gala Dinner and Ceremony on Friday, the 19th of September, held at The Chesterton Hotel. We’ll be there, celebrating the achievements of our peers and keeping our fingers crossed!

You can view the full list of 2025 finalists by visiting the Cherwell Business Awards website.

To our clients, supporters, and the people of Banbury: thank you. Your trust and encouragement have brought us to this exciting moment, and we can’t wait to continue supporting your hearing health for years to come.

If you or someone you love is struggling to hear clearly, or if you simply want peace of mind about your hearing, why not pop in for a free check?

You’ll find us at TheSenseofHearing.com where hearing better begins with being heard.
