Dance extravaganza at Banbury Canal Festival!

in Culture, Entertainment, Events
Lucky Pigeons - Brainfools Feature

The Mill Arts Centre is delighted to be returning to this year’s Canal Festival (4th & 5th October) – Banbury’s biggest annual event along the canal and in the town centre! We’ll be bringing you two full days of free performances on our Dance Stage for you to enjoy, with world-class professional shows alongside local and community performances.

Open to all and completely free to attend, our Dance Stage in Chamberlaine Court Car Park (directly behind The Mill) will be bursting with energy, featuring a vibrant mix of ballet, circus, and traditional South Asian dance that’s perfect for the whole family. Let’s All Dance Ballet Company will be performing The Ugly Duckling – a charming, ballet-inspired retelling of the beloved story. Sonia Sabri Dance Company bring us The Elephant & The Drummer – a story of self-discovery told by a dynamic duo brought together by their shared love of dance and music. And for something a little different, marvel at Lucky Pigeons by Brainfools which offers a heart-warming tale of friendship and belonging, told through a spectacular mix of acrobatics and juggling.

A week after the Festival, Let’s All Dance Ballet Company return to our auditorium stage with Hansel & Gretel (11th October) – a beautifully choreographed ballet full of charm, fantasy, and heart. This rich, magical reimagining of the classic fairy tale with expressive music and staging is a great introduction to ballet for little ones (suitable for all ages 2+) and tickets include a photo opportunity with the cast!

For our theatre lovers, Frankenstein (25th September) delivers a thrilling take on Mary Shelley’s timeless story. This chilling new adaptation had a sold out three-week run at Boston Manor House in West London last Autumn and now comes to our stage for a night of drama and suspense. Plus, award-winning Dyad Productions bring us That Knave, Raleigh (9th October) – an epic solo performance journeying through the astonishing highs and lows of one of Britain’s most famous historical figures. A five-star hit with rave reviews from The Scotsman and British Theatre Guide.

Our music fans can rock out with Ed Force One (26th September), one of the best Iron Maiden tribute bands with killer vocals, awesome guitars, bass and drums just like Nicko! Or dive into today’s pop sensations with Best Friends Forever (27th September) featuring the biggest hits from Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter – a must-see for any pop fan.

Finally, sing your heart out with And Finally… Phil Collins (3rd October) – a feel-good celebration of Phil’s biggest hits, including In the Air Tonight, Another Day in Paradise, and Against All Odds. Or join us for the highly acclaimed production of Beatlemania (10th October) and experience all your favourite hits from 1965 including Help, Yesterday, Day Tripper, Nowhere Man, and Norwegian Wood. These epic music shows are high-energy, nostalgic and totally unmissable!

Be sure to book your tickets early, as these incredible events are selling fast. Visit our website or pick up our What’s On Guide to discover what’s on at your local theatre!
