Gardener’s Diary November 25: Chilly Night Frosts

Gardener’s Diary November 25:

November is that cheeky bit between mid and late Autumn. Those chilly night frosts have probably made their debut, waving goodbye to those delicate annual plants. If the weather’s playing nice, there’s still a chance to get those Spring bulbs and Autumn/Winter bedding in. Guess what? Those cute Pansies and Violas are still looking good and are available at Farnborough Garden Centre.

Quick November To-Dos:

Fruits & Veggies:

Time to give those gooseberries, raspberries, and blackcurrants a little trim. And if you’re thinking of adding new bushes or canes, now’s the time. Those apples, pears and plums that you’ve been thinking about it’s time to get them in the ground. Herbs? Pot ’em up and pop them in the greenhouse or even on your windowsill.

Flower Garden:

Still thinking of planting? Go for it, especially with those Herbaceous plants. And if Hellebores aren’t in your garden yet, give them a go. They’re flaunting some wonderful colours over at Farnborough Garden Centre.

Trees, Shrubs, Roses & More:

November’s a good time for planting these, along with conifers and climbers. Thinking of winter colour? There are some snazzy dwarf and semi-dwarf conifers in shades of green and gold that won’t dominate your space.

Pots & Containers:

Say bye to summer bedding and move those delicate Fuchsias and Geraniums to a frost-free spot. It’s not just the plants that need protection, but the pots too.

Greenhouses:

Give it a good clean and maybe some bubble insulation if you’re wintering plants. Check those heaters and thermometers and let in some fresh air when it’s mild.

Bird Lovers:

Farnborough Garden Centre’s got all the gear, from feeders to food. And don’t forget to keep their water fresh, especially when Jack Frost’s in town.

Spotlight on Plants:

Ornamental Reeds and Grasses, Pyracantha, Liquidambar, Cotoneaster, Conifers, Pansies, Violas, Heathers, Photinias, and Elaeagnus.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Farnborough Garden Centre. We’re rolling out the festive vibes with Christmas trees, wreaths, and some unique decorations if you’re hunting for gifts.

Fingers crossed for lovely weather, and we’d love to see you pop in and visit this month!

Happy Gardening, Pete.
