Banbury Operatic Society (BOS), the town’s longest-running musical theatre charity with over 60 years of entertaining local audiences, is excited to announce its next production – The Show That Time Wrote – an original concert that travels through history via the magic of musical theatre. This February, Banbury audiences are invited to step into a world where stories from across the ages collide on stage, all told through iconic songs from the musical theatre songbook.
Staged from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st February 2026 at Wykham Theatre, Wykham Park Academy, The Show That Time Wrote will take audiences on a journey “Then. Now. Beyond.” From biblical beginnings to futuristic worlds, this spectacular concert moves through battlefields, ballrooms and revolutions, bringing to life the echoes of stories that shaped our past and imagine our future.

Featuring unforgettable numbers from shows such as Les Misérables, Six, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oliver!, Bat Out of Hell and many more, the concert promises spine-tingling vocals, powerful storytelling, and a rich variety of styles and eras. With a live band and a cast of talented local performers, audiences can expect an evening full of drama, energy and emotion.
Directing the production is Dan Webster, who is joined by David Ball as Musical Director and Sophie Worrall as Choreographer. Dan shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying:
“What I love about The Show That Time Wrote is that it lets us leap through history in a really theatrical way – one moment we’re in biblical Jerusalem, the next we’re in revolutionary France, Tudor England, or a world that doesn’t even exist yet. We’ve put together a brilliant mix of big ensemble numbers, intimate solos and powerful group pieces, all framed around the idea of how stories survive through time. With a fantastic live band, stunning arrangements and a cast who are throwing everything into it, we can’t wait to share this concert with Banbury audiences.”

BOS has a proud reputation for delivering high-quality productions across a wide range of styles, from Gilbert & Sullivan operettas to West End and Broadway favourites. Recent shows have included Kinky Boots, Spamalot, Sister Act, Calamity Jane, Ghost, The Mikado and, most recently, Made in Dagenham in Easter 2025, which received rave reviews from audiences. The society continues to champion ambitious, varied programming that offers exciting opportunities for performers and audiences alike.
As a community-based charity, BOS is always delighted to welcome new members, whether on stage, backstage, front of house or in the band. Anyone inspired by The Show That Time Wrote and interested in getting involved in future productions is encouraged to get in touch via the society’s website or social media channels.
