Inspiring stories live on stage!

in Culture, Entertainment, Events

This April, The Mill Arts Centre is hosting two incredible in-conversation evenings…

Experience the extraordinary inspiration and resilience of British sporting legend Bob Champion in a powerful and moving event on Friday 17th April. Best known for his triumphant victory in the 1981 Grand National aboard Aldaniti – just two years after overcoming cancer – Bob’s story is one of sheer determination, courage, and heart.

In conversation with the ever-charismatic Andi Mac, Bob will reflect on his remarkable journey – from the racecourses of Britain to the hospital wards where he fought for his life – sharing heartfelt anecdotes, life lessons, and the emotional moments that defined his story. Adding to the atmosphere will be live music from Gaelic Gold, whose stirring Celtic sound provides the perfect prelude to an unforgettable celebration evening of hope, grit, and the human spirit.

Alternatively, step into history with Mark Smith, the Medals & Militaria expert from BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow on Wednesday 29th April.

In addition to appearing on Antiques Roadshow, Mark has written five acclaimed and authoritative books on the Great War, cementing his place as a respected voice in military history. In this brilliant evening event, Mark will bring history to life as he delves into the origins of the Victoria Cross, debunking long standing myths, and sharing jaw dropping stories of the extraordinary heroes who earned this prestigious honour.

This will be your chance to see Mark’s expertise and passion live on stage, as well as asking him your burning questions in an exciting pre-show meet & greet event. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable journey through courage, sacrifice, and history!
