Family run. Traditionally grown. Proudly Cotswold.

High in the Cotswolds at Great Rollright, with panoramic views stretching across Long Compton and four counties, Wyatt’s is a true working plant nursery with strong family roots.

Together with their second nursery at Bloxham, John Wyatt and his family have built a business grounded in traditional horticulture, quality production and personal service.

The setting at Great Rollright is not only beautiful, it is steeped in history. The late Queen Elizabeth II, when she was still Princess Elizabeth, visited the area with Prince Philip during his time staying with his friend Commander Lonsdale at Great Rollright.

They admired the same far reaching Cotswold views that customers enjoy today. That sense of heritage and place remains part of the character of Wyatt’s.

What makes the nursery stand out is its scale of production and commitment to growing. Under the direction of John Wyatt, a qualified horticulturist, around 250,000 plants are produced each year.

Rather than simply retailing bought in finished stock, the team grow from seed, cuttings, plug plants and bare root trees and roses, overseeing each stage of development.

For the bedding season alone, more than 100,000 plug plants arrive at the nursery. These are carefully potted on by the team and grown on site, ensuring strong root systems and healthy growth before they reach customers’ gardens.

By doing much of the growing and potting themselves, Wyatt’s is also able to keep costs down and pass on excellent value to customers without compromising on quality.

From vegetable and sweet pea seedlings to colourful bedding, roses, herbaceous perennials, climbing plants, wisteria and highly scented evergreen jasmine, the range reflects both traditional cottage favourites and reliable garden performers.

There is also a wide selection of mature shrubs and trees, including varieties suited to screening and privacy, along with topiary and structural planting for those looking to create year round form and impact.

Experience matters too. Wyatt’s has knowledgeable, RHS trained staff on hand to offer practical advice on planting, positioning and ongoing care.

The aim is simple: to help customers achieve real success in their gardens, pots and baskets.

Beyond the nursery, the Farm Shop at Great Rollright offers a growing selection of local produce. Some vegetables are grown on our land, and local suppliers are used as much as possible, alongside a range of other fresh produce.

There are also preserves, homemade ice cream and a thoughtful selection of gifts, creating a welcoming farm shop experience making it a destination in its own right.

The Tearoom provides the perfect place to pause. Visitors can enjoy coffee with a freshly baked scone or a relaxed lunchtime meal while taking in the Cotswold landscape. A Full English breakfast is now served daily at Rollright, adding another reason to visit early and make a morning of it.

Still owned and run by John Wyatt alongside his wife Patricia and daughters Elizabeth and Imogen, Wyatt’s remains a traditional nursery in the truest sense.

Plants are grown, not just sold. Advice is personal. And the setting, once admired by royalty, continues to inspire gardeners each spring.
