Every child develops in their own way and at their own pace. For some families, however, there may come a time when questions arise about a child’s health, development, learning, behaviour, movement, communication or sensory needs.
These concerns can feel difficult to navigate, particularly when parents and carers are unsure what type of assessment or support may be most appropriate.
At Azalea Healthcare, we provide private medical care specialising in paediatrics and child health. Our work focuses on children from birth to 18 years, offering medical consultations and diagnostic assessments for a range of health, developmental and neurodevelopmental concerns.
We understand that seeking advice about a child can feel daunting, and our aim is to provide a professional, compassionate and thorough service that helps families feel listened to, informed and supported.
Our clinical assessments may be helpful where there are concerns about general health, development, neurodevelopmental differences or complex neurodisability. This includes, but is not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, developmental coordination disorder, often known as dyspraxia, and sensory processing difficulties.
We also support children with more complex needs, including those who may require a multi-disciplinary assessment.
A key part of our approach is ensuring that each child is considered as an individual. No two children are the same, and the questions families bring to us are often nuanced. Some children may need a medical consultation, while others may require a more detailed diagnostic assessment involving members of our multi-disciplinary team.
Depending on the child’s needs, this may include input from professionals such as a Consultant Paediatrician, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, physiotherapist or other specialist practitioner.
Where diagnostic assessments are undertaken, we use evidence-based assessment tools and provide a comprehensive written report. For many families, having a clear report can be an important step in understanding their child’s profile, identifying strengths and needs, and planning suitable support at home, in nursery, at school or in other settings.
We also recognise the vital role played by education professionals and others who work with children. Azalea Healthcare offers training and education packages for schools, childcare providers and organisations. These can include infant and paediatric life support, paediatric first aid, moving and handling, and education around neurodevelopmental disorders. Bespoke training packages can also be discussed, depending on the needs of the setting.
Parents, carers and professionals often contact us because they are unsure where to begin, which is entirely understandable.
Our role is to help clarify the most appropriate next step, and we offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs further.
Above all, our aim is to offer a caring, knowledgeable and professional service. We want families to feel that their concerns have been taken seriously, their child has been carefully understood, and they have clear information to help them move forward with confidence.
