4 Ways to Save on Your Winter Energy Bill Feature

The meteorologists foresee that this upcoming winter will be among the coldest recorded in recent years. Predictions suggest that January will experience below-average temperatures. The 50plus Organisation has 4 ways to save on your winter energy bill.

Their recommendations are in line with those of the Energy Saving Trust.

“Many people think that turning up the heating makes rooms warm quicker, that the external temperature makes a difference, and that hot water needs to be constantly on. Which, by the way, is all wrong.” says The 50plus Organisation.

4 Ways to Save on Your Winter Energy Bill:

1.       Don’t turn the heating controls up if it’s cold outside

A home shouldn’t need this as the thermostat is there to maintain the internal temperature, whatever the weather.

2.       Don’t turn the thermostat up to heat the room quicker

Turning up a thermostat does not help the room to heat up quicker – it just increases the temperature.

3.       Don’t leave the heating constantly on low

It’s typically not more energy efficient to leave the heating turned on at a low temperature constantly. It means homes are heated when no-one is there to benefit.

4.       Don’t keep your water heating on all-day

It’s much better to set your water to come on for half an hour before you get up to shower or bath.

These 4 ways to save on your winter energy bill will help:

  • Make your home more energy efficient
  • Offer energy saving on gas and electricity bills.
  • Reduce energy usage

The 50plus Organisation is keen to encourage all householders to check as they may be eligible for a grant to help with energy bills or make a home more energy efficient. For more information visit: www.gov.uk/improve-energy-efficiency

Implement these changes today to see the results in your next bill.
