Deano’s Garage

At just 23 years old, Dean made a clear decision about his future. He did not simply want to work on cars. He wanted to build something of his own. More importantly, he wanted to create a garage that offered a positive and personal experience for every customer, rather than the negative perceptions often associated with the industry.

With no prior business experience and very limited funds, Dean took a significant risk. In 2022, he opened his first garage unit on Overthorpe Industrial Estate. The space was modest, with just a single ramp, but it gave him a starting point. From day one, he focused on delivering honest work, clear communication, and a service that people could trust.

That approach quickly proved effective. Customers not only returned, but they also recommended him to others. Today, his reputation is reflected in the consistent stream of five star reviews he receives. Each review represents trust earned through reliability, transparency, and genuine care for his customers.

As demand grew, Dean invested back into the business. He carefully selected equipment that would allow him to expand the range of services he could offer, ensuring he could meet the needs of as many customers as possible. What began as a small operation has developed into a thriving local business with a loyal and growing customer base.

His progress did not go unnoticed. In September 2024, Dean was awarded Young Business Person of the Year at the Cherwell Business Awards. Competing against strong local talent, this recognition highlighted both his achievements and the determination behind them.

Over the past three years, Dean has committed himself fully to building the business. He strengthened his team by bringing in an experienced mechanic, Ron, whose support has played a key role in the garage’s continued growth. Together, they have built a service that combines technical expertise with a strong customer focus.

Despite the success, Dean has continued to push forward. Wanting to expand further, he undertook the training required to become a qualified MOT tester. Achieving this qualification marked a significant milestone, opening new opportunities for the business.

Shortly after qualifying, Dean was offered the chance to take over Britannia Garage, located just across the road from his original unit. The larger premises provide the space needed to expand operations, and Dean has invested in developing the site into both a fully equipped MOT station and a general repair garage. As part of this next phase, he is also welcoming another team member, Jordon, to support the growing workload.

The journey has not been without challenges. Early on, a ramp failure left the business unable to operate for several weeks, placing serious pressure on finances. At another point, a negative online review escalated into a physical confrontation that Dean had to deal with. Alongside these setbacks came the ongoing pressures of running a business, including financial concerns, customer expectations, and the responsibility of maintaining high standards every day.

Through it all, Dean has remained focused. His approach is simple and consistent. He values honesty, keeps customers informed throughout the repair process, and works hard to keep costs fair. He understands how important vehicles are to daily life and prioritises quick turnaround times wherever possible.

In an industry where collaboration is not always common, Dean has also built strong relationships with other local garages. This reflects his belief in supporting the wider community rather than competing in isolation.

Deano’s Garage now operates from Unit 2, Overthorpe Road, the former Britannia Garage site. With hundreds of five star reviews and a reputation built on trust, it continues to grow as a reliable choice for MOTs, servicing, brakes, and air conditioning work in Banbury.

For those looking for an honest and professional mechanic, Deano’s Garage has become a name that many local customers already recommend.
