From family fun to stand-up comedy and terrific tributes – there’s something for everyone to enjoy this Summer at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury!
Don’t miss The Snail & the Whale (11th – 13th August), a heart-warming adventure for everyone aged four and up, from Tall Stories, the Olivier Award-nominated company that brought you ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘Room on the Broom’ live on stage.
Join an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine the story of a tiny snail’s incredible trip around the world, inspired by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved picture book.

★★★★★ “Captivating, inventive storytelling along with beautiful live music and songs – it’s highly recommended that you climb aboard and set sail!” Edinburgh Festivals for Kids.
Younger audience members will also love Football Freddie (22nd July) – a warm and witty new show for children and their grown-ups about football, team-work and the joy of joining in. The production features playful storytelling, friendly audience participation and integrated audio description alongside original sound design and vibrant set and costumes.
Music lovers of all kinds are also well catered for this season. We are joined by award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist James Kirby (7th July) as he blends folk, pop, blues, and indie rock in what promises to be an uplifting, unforgettable experience. Or, for a chance to get up and dance to your favourite Thin Lizzy tunes, don’t miss the standing gig from sell-out tribute act Limehouse Lizzy (21st July).
There’s plenty for comedy fans this summer too. Ahead of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we welcome back stand-up star Simon Brodkin (20th July), as well as a special return performance by the legendary Adam Kay (26th & 27th July) with a preview of his new show based on the literary sensation and multi-award-winning BBC series This is Going to Hurt. And there’s still time to catch Funny Women and ES Theatre Award nominees Stokes & Summers (6th July) as they present a new series of laugh-a-minute comedy sketches the quirks and perks of the workplace – every floor is full of stories and every office is full of oddballs!
And, if you’re looking for something a little different, why not join us for Hundred Watt Club (28th July)? Raucous & risqué, this show is a no-holds barred, full throttle journey into the wonderful world of showgirls, spectacles, and songbirds. Prepare for a beautiful, brash and bawdy night of very grown-up entertainment!
