The Snail & the Whale - The Mill Arts Centre

From enchanting family adventures to rocking tributes and side-splitting comedy acts, The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury invites you to experience a fantastic summer season filled with entertainment for all ages!

This August we are thrilled to present The Snail & the Whale (11th – 13th August), a heart-warming adventure for everyone aged four and up, from Tall Stories, the Olivier Award-nominated company that brought you ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘Room on the Broom’ live on stage.

Join an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine the story of a tiny snail’s incredible trip around the world, inspired by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved picture book. Plus, don’t miss our Snail & the Whale-themed Crafty Time session (12th – 13th August), where children between the ages of 2 and 10 can engage in creative activities inspired by the show for just £5!

★★★★★ “There’s real charm in this production.” The Scotsman

★★★★★ “Faultless family fare” WhatsonStage.com

★★★★★ “Captivating, inventive storytelling along with beautiful live music and songs – it’s highly recommended that you climb aboard and set sail!” Edinburgh Festivals for Kids.

Hilarious megastar comedian Omid Djalili comes to Banbury this summer (24th August)! Fresh off a sold-out national tour, Omid’s stand-up performances are a captivating comedy masterclass. Don’t miss this extremely rare opportunity to see him in an intimate setting – limited tickets remaining, so book yours quick!

Music fans will also be thrilled with plenty to look forward to this season. Total Who (19th August) bring us their unforgettable two-hour tribute to one of the world’s greatest rock bands The Who, while Fleetwood Machine (1st September) promise a night of rock nostalgia celebrating Fleetwood Mac.

Meanwhile the much-loved Rock for Heroes (8th September) return to The Mill with a laugh-a-minute show for the whole family that breathes new life into the music of Guns ‘n’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Prince, Meat Loaf, and many more – all while raising money for Help for Heroes! Plus, get ready to sing and dance with The Time of Our Lives (9th September), and extraordinary show transporting you back to the golden era of 80’s movies and their unforgettable soundtracks. Dress up as your favourite movie character and get ready to dance the night away as you relive the magic and excitement of the 80’s!

Or for something a little different, delve into the world of Dickensian ghost stories with a comic twist in The Ghost of a Smile (7th September). This captivating performance promises both chills and laughs, with tales that will send shivers down your spine while leaving you in stitches.
