What’s On at The Mill

4 September 2023
in Culture, Education, Entertainment, Events, Film, Music

This Autumn at The Mill Arts Centre, there’s something for everyone to enjoy – from world-class comedy to award-wining children’s theatre, and plenty more!

We are delighted to welcome back the legendary Fairport Convention (9th October). Celebrating their 56th anniversary, this iconic band has been enchanting audiences with British folk-rock for over half a century. Their Autumn Tour promises a mix of beloved classics and delightful surprises from both old and new albums, making it a not-to-be-missed experience for all music lovers.

Music fans are spoilt for choice this season, with Voodoo Room: A Night of Hendrix, Clapton & Cream (16th September) promising an incredible live show which honours the true spirit of legendary superstars Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. No wigs, no gimmicks – simply great music played by great musicians. Or, for something a little different, make sure you catch Jazz Dynamos (29th September), a talented five-piece band who take well known songs from the 70s, 80s and beyond, transforming them with a mix of jazz, bossa and samba – featuring hits from Dolly Parton to Britney Spears!

Younger audiences are in for a treat as well, as the comedian and children’s author (23rd September) brings us his new hour of kid’s comedy Olaf Falafel’s Super Stupid Show (20% More Stupider) – straight from the Edinburgh Fringe! Now 20% more stupider than before, this show features truth-telling cheese, fishing, ducks, bumbags, sausages and maybe some drawing. We’re also thrilled to welcome back Mill favourites Lyngo Theatre as they embark on a classic adventure featuring puppetry, songs and music in Little Red Riding Hood (7th October)!

Comedy fans will also be pleased this season, as we welcome back acclaimed comedian Mark Watson (5th October) with a brand-new night of stand-up. Brace yourselves for an abundance of jokes and a unique, ever-changing performance each night. In this show the Taskmaster star and multiple award winner considers the search for meaning that we’re all on, with lots of jokes along the way!

★★★★★ ‘A genius-level comic doing what he does best… it’s magical to watch and just so funny’ Time Out Melbourne

★★★★★ ‘Quite unlike anything else I’ve seen in almost 20 years of covering the Fringe… witty, warm, perfectly judged’ Telegraph

And if you fancy something a little different, why not join us for Flamenco Nights (7th October)? An authentic Spanish experience combining traditional Spanish food with incredible flamenco performances – perfect for all food and music lovers!
