Aerial circus and mind-blowing dance at The Mill Arts Centre

2 October 2023
in Culture, Education, Entertainment, Events, Music

This October, embark on an extraordinary journey to the moon as we welcome The Rainbow Butterfly (21st October) to Banbury. This interactive children’s performance weaves together aerial circus, contortion, and contemporary dance to tell a tale of transformation that will resonate with both young and old. Lasting just 25 minutes, followed by a delightful 20-minute stay-and-play session, this show is the ideal day out for ages 3+ and their families.

We are also delighted to welcome back acclaimed children’s theatre company Box Tale Soup this Autumn as they present their captivating adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (28th October). Get ready to tumble down the rabbit hole into a world of whimsy and awe-inspiring wonder as you encounter curious characters and experience the magic of storytelling at its finest. Alternatively, step into the enchanting world of Little Red Riding Hood (7th October) where puppetry, songs, and delightful surprises await, offering an imaginative journey like no other.

We’ve got music for everyone this season too. There’s still time to catch The History of Rock (6th October), a thrilling musical odyssey that spans the birth of rock ‘n’ roll to the iconic hits of the ’70s and ’80s. Or you can immerse yourself in the eclectic contemporary melodies of the exceptionally talented Charlie Dore (12th October), as her award-winning albums come to life on stage in a harmonious blend of wit and lyricism.

“A voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn. Wonderful.” – Mike Harding

“This sublime album…earnest and witty, tender and cynical all at the same time… profound, moving and oddly haunting.” – RnR Magazine

“Reaffirms her place as one of our most intelligent and erudite singer-songwriters.” – Fatea Magazine

Comedy fans won’t be disappointed either. Whether it’s a riotous romp through the world of Shakespeare with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) (20th October), or an evening of hilarious mystery with CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation (22nd October), we’re sure to have something to tickle your fancy. Plus, be sure to check out our unforgettable line-up of world-class comedians, from unfiltered and hilarious Jo Caulfield (29th October) to the uproarious Andrew Bird (2nd November).

Or, for something a little different, why not immerse yourself in the haunting world of silent cinema with The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari (3rd November)? Watch in awe as the eerie visuals of this silent film masterpiece come to life in a world of distorted sets, haunting shadows, and enigmatic characters – all accompanied by 4-piece band Minima’s electrifying live soundtrack!
