Banbury Christmas Light Switch On Feature

Start Christmas in style! The Banbury Christmas Light Switch On returns!

Banbury Town Council welcomes residents from all across the town and beyond for its spectacular end-of-year event, the Christmas Lights Switch On. Taking place on the 24th November, it wraps up a fantastic year of council-run events, and brings in the Christmas season with plenty of fun, treats, and entertainment. This year’s Switch On promises to be bigger than ever, with an abundance of stalls, activities, and live music.

Banbury Market Place will be transformed into a hub of entertainment, with the festivities beginning on Friday 22nd November with the Victorian Christmas Market. The Lights Switch On will begin at 11:00am on the 24th November – the last day of the market. There will be food and drink sold throughout the day, as well as craft and gift stalls. Activities and entertainment will be present to get all ages in the spirit of the season.

Banbury Music Mix Radio will once again be bringing Banbury residents some of the best local talent, with a selection of extremely gifted entertainers wowing the crowds all throughout the day. Dance groups and musical acts will grace the stage, with a wide selection of genres on show. There will also be theatre performances and even exciting fairground rides, ensuring there’s something for the whole family to enjoy!

One of the most exciting sights of this year’s event will be the unveiling of the all-new light designs, never before used in Banbury Town. Picked specially to compliment the Town’s character, these lights are sure to be visually impressive and memorable, making fine additions to Banbury’s already-impressive array of illuminations.

Banbury Christmas Light Switch On

After all the fun and excitement, the Banbury Christmas Lights Switch On will close out with a spectacular fireworks display. With another thrilling show lined up for guests, the skies above Banbury will be filled with a dazzling array of colour and light. This is sure to bring the night – along with the year’s roster of Town Council events – to a memorable close.

What’s more, Father Christmas will once again be returning to the Christmas Lights Switch On. Last year, he was spotted on the balcony of the Town Hall and addressed the crowd below. Will he be back this year? Come along and find out!

Banbury’s long history of celebrating the Christmas season makes this event one of the most popular events of the year, and the Town Council is looking forward to bringing more joy and merriment to Market Place with a host of things to see and do. Visitors to Banbury’s Market Place and High Street will be able to enjoy the Christmas lights until the end of December, with the displays keeping the town bright, warm and festive.

This is the last event in the 20204 Banbury Town Council’s calendar, meaning residents can look forward to the revealing of next year’s event line-up very soon.
