Venerated singer-songwriter Charlie Dore has announced her biggest UK tour for over 4 years, with a storm of dates to wrap up her three Short Circuit outings.
The tour kicks off in mid-September and she will be appearing on Thursday 12th October At The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury
The tour sees the celebrated hit-writer for Tina Turner, Celine Dion, George Harrison, Lisa Stansfield and Jimmy Nail perform songs from her own impressive and widely acclaimed back-catalogue. With a career spanning 10 genre-defying albums, Dore has established herself as a hugely respected performer, song-writer and producer.
Known for her erudite observations of human nature, exquisite sense of melody and impeccable story-telling, Dore has always performed and released music on her own terms – earning cult-like status amongst fans new and old alike. As ever, she will be joined by her multi-instrumentalist co-pilot Julian Littman of Steeleye Span.
Charlie says “Applying ourselves to this longer tour also gives us ample opportunity to feature some of my lesser-known (but often secretly favourite) songs. It’s great to have the freedom to experiment and re-work them and have them share the spotlight. I’m always excited to see what the response will be.
“So far, Short Circuit has taken us from Scotland to Somerset and it’s been gratifying to share the music we’ve re-discovered – there’s an exclusivity about it. We enjoy taking risks, and renewing the sets in this way feels like the perfect way to conclude our Short Circuit adventure.”
Described as ‘brave, poignant, entertaining and original’ by The Guardian, Charlie Dore has recently recorded sessions for BBC Radio 2 with Mark Radcliffe and for BBC Scotland with Ricky Ross – whilst her most famous track Pilot Of The Airwaves was featured on Ken Bruce’s final show at the Beeb further confirming her place in the hearts of listeners across the country.
“In the last twenty years she’s returned to her solo career on her own terms, releasing a series of excellent albums.”

Bio of Charlie Dore
Charlie Dore’s songs have been recorded by the good and the great including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Jimmy Nail and Ricky Ross, but her live shows reveal that actually she keeps the best songs for herself.
As one of the UK’s most respected songwriters her own albums, described as ‘eclectic contemporary folk with crunchy lyrics’ continue to win awards both sides of the Atlantic, most recently Female Vocalist Of The Year (FATEA, 2020) and Best Lyrics (Like Animals ,US Indie Acoustic, 2021). Charlie has also played major festivals including Glastonbury, Celtic Connections, Cropredy, Shrewsbury Folk and Ventnor as well as appearing at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including Kings Place and Liverpool Philharmonic.
Recent live sessions for BBC Radio 2 with Mark Radcliffe and for BBC Scotland with Ricky Ross – alongside her most famous track Pilot Of The Airwaves being immortalised in Ken Bruce’s final show at the Beeb further confirm her place in the hearts of listeners across the country.
For her 10th and most recent album Like Animals she turns away from the expansive science and space metaphors of 2017’s Dark Matter to focus on the internal landscape of the human brain and just what makes us tick. Sewn-through with Dore’s trademark dark wit, lyricism, and distinctive melodic voice, Like Animals explores some of our most basic instincts and how we’re often hi-jacked by our emotional responses.
December 2021 saw the release of her Christmas EP The Man Who Built Christmas – which she plans to include in her 2023 tour sets on the basis that a good song isn’t just for Christmas. Meanwhile 2023 UK touring will feature Charlie with long-time collaborator, the multi instrumental singer/writer/actor Julian Littman (Steeleye Span), ‘my other brother’.
“A voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn. Wonderful.”
