In response to the pressing cost of living crisis affecting residents in Cherwell and West Northamptonshire, three prominent advice charities are joining forces to provide comprehensive support and assistance to the local community. The merger of these charities marks a significant step forward in addressing the urgent financial challenges faced by residents in these regions.
Citizens Advice North Oxfordshire and South Northants are excited to announce their merger with Central and East Northamptonshire Citizens Advice, Citizens Advice Daventry and District. The merged charity will be called Citizens Advice West Northamptonshire and Cherwell. These organisations have long-standing histories of serving the local community and providing invaluable advice and support across a range of financial and social issues.
A Timely Response to a Growing Challenge
The cost of living crisis has reached unprecedented levels, impacting individuals and families across Cherwell and West Northamptonshire. The rising costs of essentials, housing, and utilities have placed tremendous strain on local residents. Recognising the urgency of the situation, these charities have decided to pool their resources, expertise, and reach to provide more effective assistance to those in need.
The merger will enable the newly formed organisation to:
Expand Service Capacity: By consolidating their efforts, the charities can offer greater capacity to meet growing demand. As a larger organisation, they will be able to reach further into their communities and extend the work they do.
Increase Accessibility: With a larger presence in the community, the merged charity will be better equipped to reach those in need, particularly in remote or under-served areas.
Streamline Resources: Through shared administration and resources, the charities will optimise their operations, ensuring that donations and funding are directed towards supporting residents.
The newly merged charity is committed to promoting financial stability, resilience, and empowerment for the residents of Cherwell and West Northamptonshire. By working together, they aim to alleviate the immediate challenges of the cost of living crisis while fostering a sense of community, support, and hope for a brighter future.
Pat Coomber-Wood has been appointed CEO of the new organisation and said “Citizens Advice have been serving the local community since the start of the second World War, offering valuable advice, support, and resources to individuals and families facing financial and social challenges. This merger is a testament to our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of local residents.”
