Get Creative This Summer!

26 April 2024
in Culture, Entertainment

Get creative this Summer at the Mill Arts Centre, dive into a vibrant array of creative classes and workshops designed to ignite your imagination. From creative writing to Bollywood dance – there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

We’ve got plenty of exciting one-day workshops this term – the perfect opportunity to try out a new creative skill. Unleash your imagination and craft a portable tribute to your favourite memories and inspirations at our Pocket Altars Workshop (11th May). For those with a green thumb, you can create stunning plant displays for your home in our Macrame Plant Hanger Workshop (11th May). Transform everyday objects and recycled materials into impressive artwork in our Drawing & Sculpture Workshops (14th May). Plus, don’t forget you can join us every week for Write & Connect (Saturdays, 2-4pm) – a free, supportive co-working space to dedicate time to your creative practice.

We are also delighted to bring back our sell-out Sip and Create workshops. This summer you can craft a beautiful Pom Pom Wreath with Paper Flowers (10th May) or Create Your Own Tarot Card (7th June). With a drink included in the ticket price, what better way to get your Friday evening started? Whether you’re an art enthusiast or a complete beginner, you’re in for a great time!

There’s plenty for families to enjoy this term too. In our Sterling Silver Personalised Keepsake Pendant Family Workshop (28th May) you can create lasting memories and beautiful jewellery together with your family. Or, for a more active experience, why not join our Bollywood Family Workshop (28th May)? Led by a trained Kathak dancer, participants of all ages will learn groovy Bollywood moves set to lively beats. This interactive workshop culminates in a performance for friends and family, providing an opportunity to showcase your new dance moves in a low-pressure environment.

As we move into June, you can celebrate Pride Month at the Mill with one of our dynamic workshops. Adults have the chance to explore the art of storytelling in Playwriting for Pride (15th June) while teens are invited to express themselves through mixed-media techniques in Teen Zine-Making (15th June). These dynamic workshops offer a space for exploration and creativity, culminating in a sharing of work at our free-to-attend Pride Social (15th June) held in The Mill’s gallery space. This is a chance to connect with members of the local LGBTQIA+ community and celebrate Pride in an open, welcoming space.

And finally, make sure you don’t miss out on our Summer Schools (running from Monday 29th July). These courses offer fun, engaging experiences in playwriting, garment sewing, yoga, creative writing and much more!

Visit our website or pick up our What’s On Guide to discover what’s on at your local theatre!

Full details of our programme are available at www.themillartscentre.co.uk.
